April 3, 2012:    We are done grooming for this season.    There is still alot of snow and some great spring riding to be enjoyed.     Come out and play!   Thank you again for your support of the Avery Groomer and the trails in the St. Joe Area.

March 23, 2012:   St. Joe March Madness!  Lots and lots of new snow.   An additional 2 plus feet of new snow since Saturday.   The following trails were groomed on Friday, March 23rd:

                Fishhook (301) to Breezy Saddle 
                216 & 217 through Roundtop Warming Hutt
                201 to Rutledge Warming Hut 
                Kelly Creek (1237) to the river

Ride from the bottom of Kelly Creek or Fishhook.   Come out and play and enjoy some great riding. 

March 12, 2012:  Don't forget the Burger Fry at Rutledge Saddle Warming Hut on March 17th.   $5.00 burgers with all the fixings.   Ride and play where you want and let us cook you lunch.  Lots of snow and lots of great riding!  Fun for the whole family.  Support the Avery Groomer and the trails on the St. Joe - Use Area 40-B


The rain in town was definately snow up above.   2 plus feet of new snow on the 201 since Saturday.   The following trails were groom on Wednesday March 14th:

                Fishhook (301) to the Sandhouse (9 1/2 mile)
                201 to Rutledge Warming Hut 
                Kelly Creek (1237) to the river

March 9, 2012:  Beautiful spring riding!  Don't forget the sun screen.  The following trails were groomed on Friday, March 9th: 

                Fishhook (301) to the Sandhouse (9 1/2 mile)
                201 to Bluff Saddle
                Kelly Creek (1237) to the river.

March 2, 2012:  Up to 3 feet new snow on Moon Pass.  The following trails were groomed on Friday, March 2nd:   It's gonna be a sweet ride!

February 28, 2012:   Beautiful sunny day - but COLD - 5 degrees!  Lots of fresh powder over the weekend.  The following trails were groomed on Tuesday, February 28th:

               Kelly Creek (1237) to the River
               201 past Rutledge Warming Hut & Dismal Lake to Pineapple Saddle
               1988 to Bear Skull 
               216 and 217 through Roundtop Warming Hut
               301 (Fishhook) from Breezy Saddle to the River.
     

February 20, 2012:  4 inches new snow in Avery.  8 to 12 inches on the hill since Saturday.   The following trails were groomed on Monday, February 20th: 

                Fishhook (301)
                201 to Rutledge Warming Hut
                Kelly Creek (1237) to the River.


February 13, 2012 The following trails were groomed on Monday, February 13th:

Ride from the bottom of Fishhook or Kelly Creek, as well as the Main River Road (FS 50) or the North Fork of the St. Joe from Avery.   Come out and play.  Don't miss out on some great riding!

February 9th:   Skiff of new snow in Avery this early am.    St. Joe is frozen - beautiful ride.   The following trail was groomed on Thursday, February 9th:

                  Main River Road (FS 50) from Avery to Bluff Creek
January 31, 2012:   The rain down low was definately snow up top.  The following trails were groomed on Tuesday, January 31st:

                  North Fork St. Joe

January 23, 2012:  Snow has settled some over the weekend but still plenty of powder to play in.  The following trails were groomed Monday, January 23rd:

                Fishhook to Breezy Saddle

                         head of Sisters Creek (1245)
               
 Kelly Creek (1237) to the River

January 17th 2012:  Great turn out for the Chili Feed.   Thanks to all of you who came out and played and enjoyed a great day of riding.2 to 3 feet new snow since Saturday the 14th!   The following trails were groomed Tuesday January 17th:

                               Fishhook to Breezy Saddle. 
                               216 & 217 through Roundtop Warming Hut
                               201 to Rutledge Saddle Warming Hut

For those looking for powder this is definately going to be the week.  Ride from the bottom of Fishhook or Kelly Creek.   (As of the 19th we have an additional foot plus of new snow in Avery!).

January 11, 2012:  The following trails were groomed. (Fresh snow in Avery on the 10th).

                                   1988 to Bear Skull


Join us on Saturday, January 14th for all you can eat all day Chili Feed at Rutledge Saddle warming hut. Pick where you want to ride and play and let us cook you lunch and dinner! Fun for the whole family. $10.00 all you can eat.

January 6, 2012:  Warm and wet weather this past week it was not feasible to groom.  The temperature is starting to cool down and we anticipate grooming again the first of the week.    There is still a lot of great riding and a lot of trails that have hardly been touched.   Come on out and play.  

December 27, 2011:    First trip out with the groomer.  Good base,  6 to 8 inches new powder.  Great trail riding.  Snowing lightly all day.   The following trails were groomed:

                     Fishook (301) from the river to Breezy Saddle.
                     216 into Roundtop Warming Hut. 
                     217 to the 201.
                     201 to Rutledge Saddle Warming Hut.
                     1988 to Bear Skull 

                     Kelly Creek (1237) to the river.

 

2012 Winter Activities
 

CHILI FEEDSaturdayJanuary 14, 2012 - $10.00 All You Can Eat All Day  Chili Feed at the Rutledge Saddle Warming Hut.  Fund raiser for the Avery Groomer.  Comeout and ride and play where ever you want and let us cook your lunch (and dinner!).  Great trails and lots of awesome play areas!   Fun for the whole family

BURGER FRY:  Saturday - March 17, 2012 - $5.00 Burgers with all the fixings at the Rutledge Saddle Warming Hut.    Have your burger your way - plain, with cheese and/or grilled onion.  Fund raiser for the Avery Groomer.    March is some of our best riding on the Joe.   Great trails and lots of awesome play areas.   Come out and play - Great Fun for the whole family.  


50/50 RAFFLE.   Drawing March 2012.  Guess the number of tabs (beer/pop) in two gallon jug.  $5.00 a guess.  50% of cash proceeds to winner(s) and 50% of cash proceeds to the Avery Groomer.  After the raffle the tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

The Avery Groomer is owned and operated by Scheffy's General Store & Motel and is a part of the Shoshone County Groomer program. 

Idaho Parks & Recreation has officially designed the Avery area as "Use Area 40-B". (Shoshone County - Avery). On your state registrations please designate "Use Area 40-B" (Shoshone County - Avery) to support the Avery groomer and the trails in the St. Joe area.

County groomer stickers are mandatory in Shoshone County by a county ordinance. 100% of all groomer stickers purchased in Avery come back to the Avery groomer.
